i’m in between revision rounds. i have four days to stew at home before heading off on summer vacation (laptop free!), and then i’ll be diving right back into edits the day i get back.
four days. it’s hard for me to switch gears between books, which means i’m not really keen on working on something new, or working on my other wips, knowing that i won’t be able to finish before going back to the novel.
after writing everyday for the last year, two years–whether it’s your current wip, edits, query letters, synopses, outlines–it’s strange to just…stop.
itchy fingers and feeling like i’m forgetting something.
baked today. twice.
worked out today. twice.
ate too much junk today. all day.
over spurts of forced stillness, i finally settled down long enough to finish amy chua’s battle hymn of the tiger mother, which i thought was fantastic, some of it so relatable it was almost eerie.
and now i’m about halfway through george r.r. martin’s game of thrones. i couldn’t help but compare it to tolkien when i first started, just because it’s high fantasy and i don’t read a lot of it. but it’s amazingly fun, engrossing, hard to put down. sansa is incredibly…frustrating. thank god for arya!
on another note, here’s my recipe for iced coffee. this stuff is a lifesaver.
4 1/2 cups cold water
1 cup ground coffee
mix and let sit overnight. strain using a coffee filter. this is your concentrate.
fill a cup about a third full with ice. top with coffee, until about halfway. add cold water until nearly full. add a shot of sugar syrup (1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, bring to a boil, let cool, store in fridge) and a glug of milk/coffee cream.
what are your summer reads? vices? bingeworthy foods?
